November 16-22, 2020 is the second annual National Drone Safety Awareness Week. This week educates the public about how to operate safely. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, National Drone Safety Awareness Week reinforces safe flying practices and highlights the benefits of this technology.

Did you know that KSA offers FAA Part 107 Certified UAS (Drone) Services? Utilizing the cutting-edge technology offered by todays aerial platforms, we are able to provide a wide range of services including; aerial mapping of project sites, 3D rendering and analysis, pavement inspection, runway maintenance inspection, aerial construction and project updates, abbreviated site visits resulting in limited airport impacts/closures, environmental surveying, and many more.

Michael Mitchell, C.M.

Michael joined KSA in 2016 as an Aviation Planner. At the start of his career, Michael was involved with multiple projects at airports across the US including Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas Love Field, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, William P. Hobby Airport, Ellington Field (Houston), Key West International Airport and North Perry Airport (Hollywood, FL). Michael was involved in numerous projects including runway reconstructions, terminal planning, forecast planning and capital improvement programs. One of his most notable projects was the Integrated Air Cargo Master Plan for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Michael enjoys designing aviation facilities and hopes to use that drive to expand KSA’s presence in the aviation community.

Caroline Horton

Caroline Horton, a 2017 graduate of Texas A&M University, has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. While at KSA she has worked as a Content Generation Specialist where she manages KSA’s social media platforms, assists in website development, creates written content for proposals, and produces and edits videos. In November 2019, Caroline became a licensed FAA Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Pilot under Part 107 rule for commercial use. Since obtaining her license, Caroline has visited numerous KSA projects across the municipal and aviation sectors to acquire drone footage for video use and at the request of our clients.

Hunter Hilburn, CEcD, EDFP

Hunter Hilburn is the Director of Marketing & Business Development for KSA. He joined KSA in September 2014 after working for 19 years in the economic development industry both as a practitioner and as a service provider. As Director of Marketing & Business Development, Hunter's focus is on the overall corporate business development program, which involves numerous projects related to messaging, branding, organization, strategy development, and client relations.
 

As an economic development practitioner, Hunter has worked on several business park development projects in the east Texas area. As a service provider, Hunter was president and partner of a company called EDsuite that served over 200 economic development organizations in 16 states across the country. While working with EDsuite, Hunter provided online solutions for economic development offices specifically related to listing industrial property within business parks and individual listings. Hunter has been exposed to hundreds of unique situations related to the promotion and development of industrial property.
 

Hunter was a recent board member for the Texas Economic Development Council, and he currently serves as a board member for the East Texas Regional Development Company. He earned his Economic Development Certification (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council in September 2003 and has been a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) since January 2001.
